Winter Everafter

20140408-093843.jpg

Forest of conifers
speckled brown without
the Spring time blooms.
The rust dressed pickups
in my backyard
still buried deep in snow,
I suddenly realize how
much I miss their oxidized
Blue
In this ugly ocean of
White:
It is starving deer and relentless
to melting.
Uncut logs meant for
another Winter are
hastily chopped to keep warm
this Spring.
Though sun does shine
bitter cold gnaws through
It’s warming rays meant
to bring forth new life,
Smothered by an unwelcome
April blizzard.
